This film is the second part of Chahine's Alexandria Trilogy.

A film director undergoes heart surgery, and during his operation he dreams he, as the child he once was, is put on trial for the attempted murder of himself -the man he has become. The child accuses his adult self of abandoning his ideals.

The surrealistic trial reveals director's journey of life, his position concerning the Egyptian revolution, his own desires for success, and the influence of the American Dream upon him.

The Film was selected at the Venice Film Festival.
